Giggle on a manta ray, self portrait in the sea
This is a fantasy of the artist. Under the sea, the painter
pictured himself conversing with his double, and sharing tea and laughter on
the back of an immense line.
The composition of the painting recalls that of the cage in
its dreamlike dimension: the protagonists are found in the middle of a group of
heterogeneous animals - here, fish - whose beauty of shapes and colors seizes
us.
Joyful, however, the scene leaves an impression of danger
with the presence of the shark that prowls nearby ... But perhaps the predator
is only a guardian, a protective totem?
